Beyond having a bad hair day!!

We all have bad hair days, but what about going to a salon and your hair is not exactly what you wanted?

I love playing with color! I wanted the crown striking blonde of highlight with no color stripes. Please hide my natural hair color, mousy brown! I chose a dark, rich brown with a hint of red to warm the color up a bit. I only color the crown and sides because I do pull my hair back often. The rest is my natural color, but it blends ok.

I'm really scary! A zebra couldn't have more stripes than me. The dark brown is now something from Crayola and I'm not quite sure what to call it. It's somewhere between fire engine red and hot pink.

Given I do almost all color on the crown, my Crayola hair doesn't look quite so scary pulling it back. No time for color correction. I had a dentist appointment. I pulled my hair back so I wouldn't look so scary.

We are talking a bit older women working at my dentist office. First comes the x-ray. This woman wanted to know where I got my hair done. She loved it! I took the band from my hair and showed her that down. Still like it? She did!

She got a second opinion. The next woman working at my dentist office came in just to see my hair. She loved it too! Both said they wanted something fun for their hair and adored my Crayola colors. Are you serious?

I go to pay the bill. The receptionist was not consulted about our hair stories. Again, I am asked who did my hair. She said my hair was 'fun and interesting'. I have to agree. It's interesting! The only fun I'm having is at my expense. What sane person has Crayola hair over the age of 40? Me!!

Anyone else had a bad hair day?

Oh no how disastrous!

I don't get many bad hair days where it looks bad, but I do many where it feels bad. I have an awful scalp and some days it itches like hell.

I go to the local hair school. I pay only $35 no matter how many colors I want. I didn't want to get this girl into trouble. I tipped and did not complain to the instructor.

These girls work very hard and are doing their clinical. I would feel horrible if this girl got held back over my complaint. She knows what color I asked for. She will not make that mistake twice! She is probably relieved that I didn't make a fuss over Crayola hair with more stripes than a zebra.

I never get exactly what I asked for, but the girls would have to be mind readers to get it. I have paid a lot of cash for bad hair jobs, meaning starting at $120 for only two colors and cut at a salon as best price I can find and they find ways to screw up my hair. That's why I now leave it to supervised students!

What to do when you really get a scary hair job?

Do you have a such a thing in the US such as Head & Shoulders? My hairdresser told me that if ever I had a dye job gone wrong then a few washes with this shampoo would help to strip some of the colour out of the hair.

Other than that, I can't recommend anything other than wearing a hat!

i would recommend going back into the school and letting the teacher know she wont get held back but it would be a learning lesson. If she goes into a salon after graduation she will get alot more than scolded by the teacher, she could et fired or worse sued, i would definatly go back in

^ Ah great thinking.... Could be worth mentioning also that you just don't want to get the girl into trouble, but you're not happy with how it turned out. She could just then put it down to a learning experience.

Unfortunately it's the risk we take when we put ourselves into the hands of a trainee!

Lippy, love your idea of wine! I buy wine by the 5L box of Chardonnay. I like to 'wine' about things, like having pink hair.

An unlocked door doesn't stop my husband. This really is a pathetic ten year separation. He comes over, trashed. He wasn't quite as enthusiastic as the women at my dentist office. After waltzing in, scaring me to death, he wanted to know what on earth I did to my hair. He hated it!

Are weird hair colors only fun to women, but make men think we lost our sanity? Should we even care what men think?

I know about washing hair and getting the color out. Red doesn't tend to hold. When you have multiple blonde highlights, there really isn't much grab with color at all, especially red. Crazy red may end up hot pink with washing.

This is interesting, but far from the dark brown with a hint of red I asked for. I definitely need color correction. I just don't want anyone in trouble for it. I have paid a whole lot more money for hair screw ups! That is why I quit paying up.

I like the weird colours people sometimes have for their hair, not all of them mind you as some do look shocking lol. And we should do our hair to suit ourself and not to please others .. too bad if they think we're mad as long as we like it that's what counts! Big Grin

I havent lost my mind ... its backed up on disc .. somewhere

I need color correction soon enough. My hair really did turn much more pink with washing in cold water. How do you hold red and have clean hair?

After getting a bit used to it, I think my hair by Crayola is kinda fun. It's only on the crown of my hair. I figure on waiting a bit to have correction. The problem is people think I am completely out there for having hair this color.

A local radio station does a grand fireworks show. My father in-law bought his apartment with a fantastic view of the Ohio River and the city lights of Cincinnati. My son's gf thinks this is VIP seating while my 16 year old daughter takes it for granted. We did talk her into going with us last minute. Her latest bf had fun!

Back to hair, I went to the store with my son and gf and ran into his gf's mother. We provided the food. My mother in-law is exhausted. We decided shopping together would be a good idea.

I have all shades of pink hair! How embarrassing to make a weirdo impression on my son's future mother in-law over my Crayola hair? Personally, I can't stand her mother, with good reason. Having pink hair doesn't help matters between us. The kids planned their wedding for next March and here I am with Crayola hair at the grocery store with them.

Next problem, my in-laws. They are divorced, yet have a strong relationship with each other. My father in-law is very senile. He spent months completely afraid of me over my Boxer at his apartment. He finally forgot about that, but what are they going to think about me with pink hair?

Pink hair can actually cause a family problem!!
