I login and then I look for the new posts (this is when I return after 1 day). If I am new to the community and I can't see post since last visit (since there was no last visit :lol I look in the areas that are interesting to me, post and the leave.

How do you usually surf forums?

On forums I visit for the first time: I look for threads that catch my attention right away.
On repeat visits: I check the threads I've posted in before first

I think I use Ramona's technique too. I just log in and hit the "view posts since last visit" button.

Yep, here is the trick.

When I join a new community I just either surf to the places that interest me, or just leave after loggin in and getting back in a day or two. Then I just hit the new posts button

wel... i start by looking through all the topics, and then start reading the most interesting ones and then i continue with the less interesting ones... who knoes, maybe someone said something important in an non-interesting topic... and if i think of something to "say" (which i usually do...) i post replyes..

then i wait for new mail, announcing me that there are new posts in that forum...

When Im new to a site i have a look at all the threads just to see whats there & see if anything catches my eye. When I return I check out the new posts since my last vist
