Well .. sometimes we're being hit by insomnia too. What do you do when you cannot sleep?

Hm.... I tend to toss and turn, get a drink of water or walk around downstairs. Failing that I'll read. Or sometimes if I can't sleep because I'm hot I'll switch to the other end of the bed where it's cooler on my back.

I'll either read a book for a while, which usually does the trick, or I get up and play games on the computer until I feel tired.
I havent lost my mind ... its backed up on disc .. somewhere

When I was small my grandma used to say that if I cannot fall asleep I should think about something nice. That was my "cure' for many many years

If I can't fall asleep I usually take a hot bubble bath and it relaxes my muscles and helps me to get sleepy. It works every time. And if I don't feel like doing that I just use the same route as aadryanaa.

Reading or being online does the trick. "You know" helps too, Aadryanaa.

I have bouts of insomnia often. It used to drive me crazy, the harder I'd try to go back to sleep, the more wide awake I'd get. These days I just get up and have a herbal tea and check my emails (like now.....its 4:40 am), or read a book.
When my insomnia is really bad and I have "all nighters" for weeks at a time), my doctor prescibes sleeping pills for me, which I take for a while to help get me into a good sleeping routine again. It used to frustrate me no end and that would make the problem even worse.
I have 6 sisters and we all as well as my mother suffer from insomnia. We've been know to talk to each other on MSN in the wee hours of the morning. (at least it's not lonely then).
Unfortunatly "you know" doesn't help much, but my husband  would love me to try anyway.
